Ghosts in the Fog will be our first animated fan film and allow us to dive deeper into the story of Camp Crystal Lake. With your support, we can bring Jason Voorhees into the animated world and deliver a truly unique horror experience.

As they wander deeper into the woods, they stumble onto the cursed grounds of Camp Crystal Lake, where something — or someone — is waiting.

As they investigate the grounds, they encounter the legendary killer, "Ghost Jason" Voorhees.

What follows becomes a series of tense battles where they must fight to survive or succumb to Jason's deadly attacks, and there will be blood!

We’re thrilled to feature a fantastic voice cast in Ghosts in the Fog, including Chelsea Rebecca and Zoran Gvojic from the Dead Meat Youtube channel and the seasoned animation voice actor Diego Valenzuela.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to complete the animation for Ghosts in the Fog and include it as a bonus feature on the upcoming Never Hike Alone: The Final Cut Blu-ray, which was successfully funded late last year. 

Animation and Post Production Funds: Final character and background design, animation, editorial, sound design and mixing, ADR recording, color grading, titles, and final output.

Shipping & Handling:  Shipping is often one of the most overlooked parts of a successful campaign. We’ve carefully budgeted for all shipping expenses and procedures to ensure smooth delivery. If the campaign reaches higher stretch goals, we’ll explore hiring a professional fulfillment service to help expedite the process and get your rewards to you faster.

Platform Fees: Indiegogo deducts approximately 9–10% from each backer’s pledge to cover platform and processing fees. That’s why raising additional funds beyond our initial goal is so important. It helps ensure we have the full budget needed to complete the project without compromise.

While our initial goal is set at $50,000, we have big plans if the campaign goes beyond that. These stretch goals are designed to maximize the value of your support and expand the Never Hike Alone universe in exciting new ways.

$100,000 - UNLOCK MORE NEW PERKS: We’ll expand the campaign with an exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Booklet for the box set, plus new shirt and poster designs, VHS tapes, and other killer collectibles for backers.

$150,000 - THE KILL MONTAGE RETURNS:  Remember the kill montage we had to cut from Never Hike Alone 2? We do too—and we still want to make it. Help us reach this goal and we’ll get the band back together to film a brand-new five-person kill montage, which will be added to both The Final Cut and The Ghost Cut!

$200,000 - THE GHOST OF CRYSTAL LAKE: This stretch goal unlocks an original digital graphic novel — The Ghost of Crystal Lake — telling the origin of Ghost Jason, how he returned to Camp Crystal Lake after his defeat in Manhattan, and what was waiting for him when he returned. Bill Hunt has already signed on to create the cover art! This stretch goal will not be made for sale, simply added to the backer's digital rewards, and non-exclusively released online.

The centerpiece of this campaign is the Never Hike Alone Box Set, featuring all-new pressings of the Never Hike Alone saga, complete with additional bonus features and artwork by renowned artist Josh Beamen. Single edition Blu-rays and Boxes are also available for those looking to complete their current collection.

Slasher Tees is teaming up with Womp Stomp Films to bring you two exclusive horror-inspired long-sleeve shirts, designed by Josh Beamish. These shirts will be printed on soft, high-quality fabric and are available in sizes S–2XL.

Exclusive new posters based on Josh Beamish's Blu-ray artwork are available for the entire Never Hike Alone collection, including a brand-new poster for Ghosts in the Fog, designed by Mako Animation. Two exclusive add-on posters featuring artwork from our T-shirt designs will be available only to backers!

Producer Perks allow backers to participate in commentary tracks and even appear on missing person posters in the film!

Since the initial launch of Ghosts in the Fog in 2022, we've been able to use a portion of the Never Hike Alone campaign stretch funds to complete a full story-board animatic and develop the look of the film. With this campaign, we aim to finish what fans have started and complete the final stretch goal from the Never Hike Alone 2 campaign.

Our animation partner for Ghosts in the Fog is Mako Animation Studio, a dynamic creative team based in Zapopan, Mexico. Founded by Juan Rivera, who also serves as co-director of our film, Mako Animation specializes in 2D pipeline productions, crafting original, visually compelling stories.

Their portfolio includes projects such as John Death (a 43-episode animated series on YouTube and an internationally award-winning short film) and Horrorland (an animated horror series in development), and they have participated in various international animation forums, such as the Pixelatl Animation Festival 2021 to 2024 (Guadalajara, Mexico), the DestaCADO Festival 2023 and 2024 (CDMX, Mexico), and the Annecy International Animation Festival 2023 (Annecy, France).

Mako Animation's dedication to creativity and unique storytelling aligns perfectly with our vision for this project.



Mako Animation Studio is partnering with Armáss Productions, a 3D studio and production expert based in Monterrey, Mexico, for the production of this animated short, mixing 2D and 3D animation to bring Ghost Jason and their victims to life.

They have participated in various international animation forums, such as the Pixelatl Animation Festival 2021 to 2024 (Guadalajara, Mexico), the DestaCADO Festival 2023 and 2024 (CDMX, Mexico), and the Annecy International Animation Festival 2023 (Annecy, France).

Armáss Productions its a boutique studio specializing in 3D digital art and production, dedicated to the animation, film and entertainment. Their passion for horror stories and their love for telling them through 3D digital art make them a key ally.

Cinescare Productions, also known as the Cinescare Horror Podcast, is a bi-weekly show dedicated to all things horror, with a particular focus on movies. The podcast is hosted by a team of horror enthusiasts, including best-selling author Matthew Speak, Joe Janz, superfan Marc Pyskaty, and film critic James Oster. Together, they guide listeners through a tangled web of horrors, offering reviews, discussions, and insights into both classic and contemporary horror films.

Cinscare has since launched a production wing for their brand, helping produce Never Hike Alone 2: A Friday the 13th Fan Film and the award-winning short The Foot of the Bed. 

One of the most common questions we receive is whether fan films are legal. The short answer is yes—fan films fall under the Fair Use Doctrine of 1976. Over time, both written and unwritten guidelines have been established to ensure fan productions operate within legal and ethical boundaries.

Top 5 Fan Film Rules

No Misrepresentation – A fan film cannot claim to be an official production of the franchise it portrays.

Free to Watch – Fan films must be publicly available at no cost through platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, or social media.

No Profit – Revenue cannot be generated from viewership, public screenings, or direct sales. 

Funds Go to Production – Crowdfunding must cover production costs only, and filmmakers do not receive personal payment.

Franchise-Specific Rules – Some franchises impose additional restrictions, such as budget caps, runtime limits, or alumni participation.

Ultimately, the decision to allow or restrict fan films lies with the rights holders of each franchise.

Womp Stomp Films is not affiliated with Paramount Pictures, New Line Cinema, Warner Bros., or any entity associated with the Friday the 13th franchise. If rights holders express issues with this project, we will comply with their requests.

That said, many major studios—such as those behind Star Wars, Halloween, Star Trek, Batman, and Nightmare on Elm Street—recognize fan films as valuable marketing tools as long as they are non-profit and non-competitive.

A well-known legal case involving the Star Trek fan film Axanar resulted in Paramount Pictures halting production after the filmmakers raised $1.13 million. Our campaign is significantly smaller, focused solely on covering essential production costs. Every dollar raised will go directly toward completing Ghosts in the Fog and fulfilling backer rewards.

Beyond funding the film, we are committed to using our platform for a good cause. We will donate some excess funds to Plant a Tree and Project College Camp, supporting wildfire prevention and outdoor education initiatives.

While we are proud to spread awareness for these causes, we should preface that with each and every campaign, our aim is to spend the funds on servicing the needs of the campaign. We are not often left with excess funds because we do our best to invest in the films and perks fans are backing the campaign for. 

Our campaign for a cause program is here in the event that we raise not just excess, but excessive funds that we would not have any use for on this or future projects.
